Problem near the gas hose.....

Hello everyone,
I have a leak near my gas hose... It is on the driver's side, I don't have a picture right now but You might be able to picture it in your head or find one.. It is not the bigger gas hose, it is the smaller hose right beside it... It is leaking onto the frame... I got some of it on my finger and I smelled it and it DID NOT smell like gas... It was a black/brownish color fluid...

I reached up to see where it would go and I felt the end of the hose and it seemed disconnected to something??
Please help.
Thank You Very Much.
I have a busy day tomorrow so idk if I will be able to get a picture up or not... I'll try.
Thanks for the Help in regards.

Nuke

The only thing that comes to mind is possibly the rear axle vent tube which goes up to that area.

Most likely what you have there is most likely indeed the rear axle vent tube. It is as it sounds a "vent" for the rear axle. It doesn't connect to anything on that end. It is connected to the rear axle and ran up the rear drivers corner.

See if you can follow the "hose" and see where it goes to. Also try to snap a few pic's of it and we can tell you exactly what it is.

It's hard to say from the pics but as the other said, my bet is that the hose that has the gunk coming out is nothing more than the rear axle's vent hose.

Trace the hose that you're concerned over down out of the tub and you'll likely find that it connects to a fitting on top of the axle on the driver's side. If that's it, your axle is just burping up a bit of gear lube through its vent hose and not likely to be anything to be concerned with.

It's probably not leaking so much as it is just giving up some excess gear lube or just a little blowing up the tube when the pressure inside the differential raises from things getting heated up as is usual. I wouldn't worry about it.
