problem need info

a girl i am seeing drives a 1998 tj 4cyl 5 spd and when she is backing up and turning sharply (like pulling out of a parking spot) and when she goes to put it in 1st gear it acts like it wants to stall out, i havent had these problems in my jeep, so if anyone has any information on what is causing this it would be greatly appreciated
