Problem with a Smittybilt top....any ideas

I just bought Smittybilt Safari top, windjammer and tonneau for my 01 TJ, looks great and appears to fit well.............BUT............Having a problem with the area where the top attaches to the door surrounds. The plastic flaps fit tightly into the door surrounds and looks OK, till I start driving then the flaps come loose and the top flaps in the breeze, just 2 nights ago had a light rain and just the weight of a little water the flap came loose.
I called the Smittybilt tech assistance line and the guy said nothing could be done about it. I JUST CAN'T BELIEVE IT. The top is designed to fit either into the door surrounds or be Velcroed around the roll bar, only problem with the Velcro is the door surrounds would have to be taken off......Why would Smittybilt design something that doesn't work.....NOT a Happy Camper.
I have had Smittybilt products before and not had any problems, I called ExtremeTerrain yesterday and the rep couldn't believe Smittybilt told me that, he said he would check on it and let me know..................Has anyone had a similar problem or have any ideas how to correct it, I could put a screw in the flap but I really don't want to do that.

I hate to say it, again, but this is just another reason why I never recommend any Smittybilt products any more. They used to be a great company until old man Smitty died and the family sold the name to a group who moved all manufacturing to China.

Try to get Extreme Terrain to take it back and get another (better) brand...on tops you can't beat Bestop IMO. Smittybuilt as Jerry states has really gone downhill. I have never purchased anything of theirs based on numerous problems reported on this and other Jeep forums. Best of luck.

I have the same problem with my soft top. The side windows don't get in the groves around the doors because the zipper is too far back to reach. And my rear widow is screwd up. I'll never buy anything smittybilt again

perhaps if you just super glue some short velcro straps to the surrounds, and to the top, you can eliinate your "pulling lose" type situation.

Just an idea....

I'm sorry to hear that the top keeps coming unhooked! It definitely doesn't sound right that the Smittybilt rep told you there isn't anything that could be done. Shoot me a PM with your order number and I'll see where Customer Service is in the process of speaking with Smittybilt.

I know it's a pain to return stuff but I don't want you to be stuck with a product you don't like/doesn't work either. If it turns out that returning it for something else is the best option, I'll make sure to make it as painless for you as possible.

Shoot me that PM and I'll follow up on this for you!
