Question about Transfer Case and Rock Slider

Hi, I just bought my first Jeep, a 2000 Wranger. It has a pretty good transmission fluid leak. So in an attempt to figure out where it is coming from, I removed the rock slider. In doing so, I noticed that the transfer case is being supported by the slider. So as I was lowering it off, the transfer case came down about an inch, and when I put it back on, it pushed up on the transfer case.

Is this normal? Does the transfer case rest on the rock slider?

Also, any common areas where transmission fluid leaks? I could not figure out from where it was leaking.

Yes, the skid plate supports the transmission and transfer case. You need to support that whenever removing the skid plate. Do you have an auto or manual? What color is the fluid? Thick or thin?
No more jeep for now
But I have free kandy and kittens in the back of my van
