Quick question about self tapping bolt spring perch

Im tapping threads on front spring perch for a 1/2-13 bolt for my bumpstop extensions but cant access under one of the perches to place a nut on it.

I see some just use a self-tapping bolt and I guess I dont understand how they work without a nut on the other end.

can I just apply locktite on the bolt and tighten it down??

Im on my way to hardware store so hopefully I get a response before then.

That's why you tap it, so the bolt threads into the hole and no nut is needed.

Your threaded thickness will be thinner than a 1/2" nut (less thread engagement) but for that application, it doesn't need to be tightened as much as you would a 1/2" bolt in most other applications. In other words, don't torque it to 70 or 80 ft.lbs.
