Quick Radiator/Tranny cooler question

Okay, bought a used radiator, had it cleaned and tested, putting it in, now the problem. The tranny cooler barbs from the stock rad will not go into the used 2-row. The stock barbs have a brass nipple on them along with an o-ring, and they look sort of like a flare fitting. The ports on the 2-row look similiar to the barbs without the nipple (and o-ring) but still looks like an "outey" like the barb. I cannot even get a single thread started (not that I would, because I know it would never seal). Does anyone know which kind of new barbs I may need?

Here are some pic's...

This is my barb fitting. It looks like 3/8" mpt but it is not. The threads seem to the same tpi but the diameter is lightly smaller. Notice it looks like a flare fitting.

This my stock radiator, hard to tell but the fitting here is recessed and flat at the bottom.

This is the replacement radiator. Again, hard to tell but the bottom of this fitting looks very similiar to my barb fitting, it is rounded up slightly.

you should be able to go to the hardware store and find a threaded one side to nipple on the other. should be a couple bucks a pop.

some thread sealer and a good hose clamp and you should be golden.

if that does not work then find out what car the radiator came out of and go to the dealer to get the adapters. Io would also check the local auto parts store for what they have.

I already tried the hardware store route. I bought 3/8" mpt barbs but I could not even get the first thread started. Tomorrow, I will check auto parts stores for them and/or the dealer. This one is supposed to have come out of a TJ but maybe the other guy had a stick not an auto, so never made a diff to him.

It turned out that the radiator shop I had check it out had just what I needed from their junk drawer. It did look like a flare fitting on one end with a barb on the other.
