Random misalignment feeling

I have a 1997 Tj SE 5 speed. Bone stock besides wheels and 31 10.5 tires. Has 97,000 miles. Bought it with 95,000 two weeks ago. After i put the new wheel and tire combo on i have twice got the feeling of a misalignment. But it comes and goes. It will drive and ride like stock form and randomly will switch back to dog tailing and pulling when i apply the brake. Any ideas? thanks
Think we can make it...

steering gear box is going... I had the same thing, just replaced mine now its all gone.
do you have to constantly put the wheel to one side or the other by about 1-2 inches on the steering wheel to keep it going straight down the road ?
have you had your suspension components shaken down and found to be fine, but your jeep still steers to one side or the other? when the steering wheel is straight?
does it feel like you have to predict where the jeep will go when you steer?
do you have to steer into road crowns?
have you had an alignment done and steering wheel straightened and your steering wheel still has to be cocked to one side or the other?
-turn your steering wheel to one side, not all the way, about one turn on the wheel.
turn off your jeep. feel the play in the steering wheel.
-turn your steering wheel to the other side, about one turn on the steering wheel, feel for play. If it feels like you have excessive play in the steering wheel, then your gear box is bad.
These are all the symptoms I had after an alignment, suspension checked, new shocks, sway bar bushings, tires rotated and balanced, new parts to make the suspension tight. my wheel still had to be 1 inch to the left to go straight down the road. when I turned my steering wheel to the left and parked my vehicle, shut it off, it felt as if my steering wheel had a ton of play in it. I replaced the gear box and everything is perfect now, no play, no holding the wheel to one side to go straight.
If your answer is yes to this stuff after an alignment, your gear box is bad.
