Wanted to see if anyone else has this problem. When going over bumps there is a rattle of some sort coming from the floor boards round the transmission. Not sure if something came undone or what for a mount or not. If anyone has had this issue or have any ideas i'd love to know. I can't find anything when under the Jeep looking. Thanks.

i'm in the same boat. my '98 rattles over small bumps but, mine sounds more like it coming from the front suspension. i'm am due for a new set of shocks but, haven't gotten to it yet as i do most of my maint and upgrades in the fall/winter (have too much fun with it in the summer)

Check your 4 wheel drive linkage. I bet the rubber grommet is gone on it and that is your rattling noise. It is right next to your right foot in the transmission tunnel.

did you check the ujoints on the drive shaft? my u joint crapped out on me and it was making a terrible rattling noise when i would hit bumps. i'd check there b/c the ujoints are $20 and really easy to replace.

Finally got to look. Yup jdhallissey is right on the rubber grommet for the 4WD. Do they sell just the grommet or do I have to look for the linkage? Plus if anyone has changed this out could you let me know what it takes to swap this out. Thanks.
