rattling in front need help!!!

I have a 1997 jeep wrangler i just paid off. it has a rattling in the front when i drive but when i go in to 4x4 it gets very loud. i took off my front diff cover all my gears are fine but it has metal shaving in it they look like there coming from the passenger side. my 4x4 still works but i would like to fix the problem before it gets bad.let me know if you have any thoughts. it has gotten bad the last few days. this is a daily driver

I wouldn't think the rattling is the result of the metal shavings but on that not u should clean out the shavings. Check te bushings on ur front end and make sure everything is tourqed to specs would be the first thing

That's why I said to check ur bolts ad make sure they are tourqed (do the easy stuff first so u can start eliminating stuff) only way to e sure what it is, take it to a mechanic and have him drive around with u. No one can tell u where a sound is coming for over the Internet. Just trying to help point u In the right direction

I am thinking U joint, and it would make sense to be louder in 4 wheel as torque is applied to the joints
