Rear end gear ?

I have an 05 TJ thats a rocky mountain package, so I have the 44 rear end. I have read somewhere that these jeeps came with 3.73's due to the 31" tire setup. SO my questions are...

1. do you have to change out the cases to move up to 4.56 gear set? or is it a straight swap?

2. would an ECTED AUBURN unit swap straight in place of the factory limited slip unit with out alot of fuss?

anyone?

Yeah, odds are you will have 3.73 gearing. Only the Rubicons came with 4.11's. And yes you will have to change carriers to move up to 4.56. Any aftermarket full case locker or LSD will work for you.

DONT USE THE AUBURN ECTED!!!! I have the ected in front and back, replaced the front once, replaced the back twice. It uses, in my opinion, inferior parts, last replacement was due to stripped splines in the locker, previous replacement of front and rear locker were due to "not having tight enough tolerances during manufacture", they would not dis-engage,replaced under warranty. Second replacement was under their warranty that they either replace or repair ( at their discretion) for a flat fee of 350.00 (not too sure of the price but over 300.00). The next time it goes out I will put in a Detroit.
Remember, this is just my opinion ( and quite a few others that I have talked to and read about).
