rear end leak around rubber plug

My rear end is leaking around the rubber plug that goes in the fill hole. Does anybody have a good fix for this other than buying a new one that will probably do the same thing?

Try putting a couple of wraps of teflon tape around it. The tape is white and can be bought at any hardware store in the plumbing section.

You have a 10 year old rubber plug. It's going to dry out, shrink and get hard over 10 years. A new won't leak.

Jeeps don't leak. They just mark their territory.

i like the axle swap idea just throw a dana 44 rear in there they have a steel plug its a cheep fix.

really though a new one prob wont leak, the rubber hardens up in the elements causing them to leak. otherwise try cleaning up the surfaces and spread alittle silicone sealant (RTV) under the lip of the plug.
