Rear End Pulsating Noise

at 50-60 MPH my a pulsing roar comes from the rear end of my jeep. If I feather the accelerator or take my foot off of it, it subsides. One mechanic told me it was the rear end and that a lot of jeeps have rear end noise. He said the noise probably wouldn't change for another 100k miles and not to worry about it for the time being. However, this guy has already given me really bad advice.

My question:

What is actually causing this noise, what exactly is a rear end re-build and will that solve it? And how much does something like that cost lol.

Thanks!

I guess maybe it could be the u joint. You would meant he u joint on the rear driveshaft, correct?

It only does it when I am pressing on the gas, and if i get off it goes away.
