Rear end sqeal after pinion seal change

Hey guys, i just changed out my pinion seal on my 97 wrangler sport. its a dana 35c.

The problem is after i put it all together, when i accelerate hard, in first gear from a standstill, i get a metallic squeal noise from the rear end.

Any idea what it could be? Im trying to figure it out and retorque the pinion nut. Any ideas would be great!!

The Dana 35 uses a crush sleeve. You shouldn't reuse it when you change the seal. Same thing goes for the pinion nut. When you remove the pinion nut and crush sleeve you have to be specific about the torque values so the new products can be installed in the exact same manor.

My guess is you didn't install a new crush sleeve and pinion nut and the values have changed causing your gears to mesh differently.

When i removed the old setup, all i had was a nut, yoke, then the seal. there was no crush sleeve. I did mark where the nut was and had it aligned to the same point when i reinstalled it.
Did the previous owner not install a crush sleeve?

I'm not sure but can you replace the crush sleeve from the outside? If not you may not notice it as you replaced the nut yoke and seal.
