rear stretch??

ive been doing some thinking and im not sure what i want to do completely but i have and idea, and i need suggestions and opinions. Ive been thinking of comp cutting the rear fender staight back, and making longer control arms to push the rear axle back to get more wheel base. I know i would have to figure something out with the track bar mount and shock mounts but thats no biggy. Im thinking about 8" stretch, do you think that to much. Do you think my gas tank will be in the way with the ford 8.8? any suggestions would be awesome. Im trying to keep this cheap so get creative.

Oh ya, im keeping the stock control arm mounts. and im not getting a SYE, i dont need it. Is there any other car that hold same u-joints size and that a little longer? cherokee driveshaft or anything. Worse comes to worse i can get one custom made.

You will have to relocate/replace your gas tank, move the shock mounts, coil buckets, extend brake lines, relocate trac bar mount at the frame side (or triangulate your control arms). It is a pretty involved process, I am doing this this winter, and will try to keep pics of the project to do a basic writeup as it progresses.

seems like it but from memory he does have a short shifter so its not bad. What i'm move excited is what the tcase shifter linkages look like. I've seen the brackets for 3" drop but never for 5 or 6" drops (3" bl up and 2-3 on the other end).
