Rebuilt transmission & now won't start

I just had my 99 Jeep Wrangler 4cyl 6.0L automatic in the shop getting a rebuilt transmission, I had it back less than a day and now it will not start. All the lights and gauges seem to work but the engine does not turn over, not even the clicking sound as if it wants to engage. Any ideas or suggestions to what might be wrong, could the mechanic have messed things up while in there? It was in the shop almost a month and has had the transmission in and out several times (that would need to be a whole other post)Any ideas would be appreciated.

Check to make sure the starter is getting power.

Thanks, turns out the starter was getting juice. Luckily, the tow truck driver was my hero today and was able to get it started right up by putting it in neutral. He said the park switch was probably broken. I am taking it to a (new) Mechanic tomorrow to trouble shoot further.

Okay so now I have another issue happening (over a month into problems and thousands of dollars just going down the drain)

The jeep started stuttering and stalling like she was out of gas and the check engine light comes on. My mechanic assumed it was the fuel pump, but it wasn't so he fixed the parking sensor issue so it starts in park and then changed the crank shaft sensor (or whatever it is), and the jeep ran fine for two days, but now the problems are back. He and the other mechanic who work at his shop both went through the jeep and cannot find the problem. I am at a loss and out of money from fixing all the wrong things. Does anyone have any ideas what could be happening. My latest idea is that something is wrong with the fuel sensor, since the last time the sputtering happened the fuel gage was all over and then dropped to empty with the gas light on.
Any ideas would be helpful, because at this point my mechanic is clueless to what is wrong and I am left on my own to figure it out and make suggestions to him on what to look for.
