Regear Question - R&P Size?

Hi all! Soon once i find the funds....(being a 17 year old with no job to be found is hard..) I will be regearing my jeep. It is a 2.5l with an ax-5 5 speed transmission with a dana 30 front and dana 35 rear. Right now my gears are at 4.11 on 31s and my gas mileage is terrible at 70mph running at about 3100 rpms. I make many long trips at that speed and im about to put on 33 inch bfg ats. Im thinking i need 4.88 gear ratio. If you all dont think so please let me know! Im looking for the best mpgs possible with 33s, a 4 banger, and a manual 5 speed. Also, I should not have to upgrade the carrier for this ratio, correct?

Thanks a bunch!

i run 33x12.50x15 tires. i also have the same 4 cyl. with the 5 speed trans. i went to 488 gears and it drives good. as far as gas mileage, it is a jeep and don't get great mileage but it did a lot better when i went to the 488 gears. i have the same axles and the carriers will be ok.
