Fan being wobbly could be from a bad fan clutch or a bad waterpump I'd find what is causing the problem first.

Stay mechanical unless you do lots of deep water crossings where being able to shut off the fan would be helpful.

Mechanical fans will pull more air, use less power, and are pretty robust.

I did a conversion and it was a great mod. Took a load off the engine. I did the fan cut off switch for water crossings and have used it in numerous water crossings. Having run mechanical and electric I like the electric better.

Fan clutch stops my mechanical fan during water crossings. I would stay mechanical if I were you. Works great. Most trucks come with mechanical fans still. Better performance for jeeps. I'm sure electric fans are nice on a lot of cars but don't see a reason to change something that works great.
