Ok so I busted the center yoke pressing u joints in with my impact. A needle had laid down not allowing the cap to fully seat. I gave it a little extra bump with the gun and blew out the recessed grove that holds the clip. I picked up a new spicer one from crown but it has a hole in the middle on either side. Same part # cast by the looks of what wasnt cut out. And theyre identical otherwise. Whats with theater hole?

Is it used? Just looked at mine and there's no hole.

If I were to hazard a guess as to purpose, I would imagine it is for getting a grease gun on a fitting for the centering ball.
