replacing brake light switch

**i did a search for this topic and couldn't find one that helped**

i have a 2000 wrangler that the brake light stopped working on. figured out it was the switch that's located up under the dashboard and managed to reach under there to get the old one off. it seemed like i had to twist it and it then pulled out. I am having a hard time getting the new one to click into place though, as i can only really get one hand up under there and can't figure out which way it needs to turn to click into the hole the old came out of. do i need to remove the plastic under the steering wheel to access, or does anyone have any knowledge of how to get the stupid thing in? Thanks.

Not a dumb question, but an uncommon one. I've never had to deal with that particular switch, but I've spent plenty of time cursing at my Jeep because of the way something was done by the manufacture. Sorry I can't offer any help. Good Luck!
