I recently purchased my jeep but noticed that the passenger shock is bent and i get the death wobble when i hit a bump on the road. The jeep is lifted but idk how much so idk what shock to get to replace it. Anyway to calculate how high the jeep is from stock? is there a certain spot that i have to measure up from the ground? any help is appreciated!
the car is bought from an auction, passenger control arms were completely bend along with the lower bracket but that's taken care of. Now i just want to refresh the whole front suspension. starting with the shocks cause one is bent.
thanks for the help guys
You probably want to do a search on death wobble/bump steer as there are tons of writeups on it... most likely new shocks are not going to solve that problem. My solution in my jeep was a currie correctlink steering package.
The death wobble is gone!! After putting the lower control arm mount on, I tightened up the end links and no more wobble! But since the parts are relatively cheap for these cars in going to refresh almost all of the suspension within this upcoming month! Curently my power steering pump is out so driving without power steering is not tooooo bad.
you said you did the measurements and found your lift. Did you measure the springs from the top spring perch to the bottom of the frame? how did you find it? I cant seem to figure it out.
