Wasn't really sure on how to word the title. But I've been noticing lately that when I go to accelerate it seems like the Jeep will catch and then "slingshot" forward. It will go higher on the RPM's and then slingshot forward. This happens when I lightly gas it or when I need to get up a hill. I know one of my friends has this issue with his, but can't recall why or how. Any advice or things to look at/for and why this happens? Jeep is a 2000 auto.

Thanx all in advance.

My instant thought is that your tranny is slipping and then torque converter locks.

Have you checked the fluid level in the tranny. Also, has the filter ever been changed?

Filter was changed earlier this year. Haven't checked the fluid in the tranny yet. Will do that next week.

So I took all of your advice and sadly its still acting up. Called my mechanic and I'm bringing her into the shop today after work. Luckily my mechanic is a locally known reputable 4x4 shop that specializes in Jeeps. I thank you for all the advice and am hoping its not too serious.
