Ring & Pinion

Ok.. plans for this summer include a 2" BB, some 31' rubber and new rims. With only a 2" BB, am I still going to need a new Ring & Pinion? or is it not enough to worry about? Also, I have an automatic and I hear that because of that it may be harder to determine my new gear ratio. Fact or Fiction?

Thanks!

'lift on mine.its ok on flatlands but when it comes to hills i have problems.i am changing mine out to 3.73's which will help me on the hills and trails and increase my fuel mileage.

The 2" lift has nothing to do with the gear change. Its the 31's your putting on there that will be the issue, or rather lack of one. Looks like your pic is a 6cyl,model so shoudl not be that big of a deal even if you have the higher gears. There should be a gear tag on the diff to tell you which gear set you have.

Yep.. 6 cyl.. I'll have to check on that gear tag as well. Also, anyone know what tires I could clear with the stock suspension? I have been told 30's.. but I'm not too sure about that..

You can fit 31x10.50's stock. There may be some slight rubbing at full turn and off-road as well. but they can and do fit.

Not trying to hijack your thread, but with 3.07's and a 4.0 can I run 32's? Or will this cause to much strain on hills?

I run 33's and 3.07's right now and I don't have to many problems but I got a 6 speed. and when I want to creep it wants to haul ass.

I have the 6 speed also. So you think I will be alright. I will eventually change out the gears, but it seem to be more time and money than I have. I don't have 32's yet either, but I am trying to put my build together and want to make sure everything I pick will work.

Ok.. obvious n00b question.. but 10.50 is the depth correct? or backspacing?

10.50 is the width of the tire

*edit*
31 is the heights, 10.50 is the width, and 15 is the wheel size.
