I have a 2005 Wrangler TJ 4.0 auto. Runs great, but has a starting issue. Sometimes it will not crank unless I rock the vehicle forward. The lights and radio come on, but the starter does not turn over at all. Usually does this ft er I have driven it for awhile. Cables re clean and tight. Any ideas?
If nudging the jeep a little allows it to work, it sounds like the Park/Neutral switch may need adjusting. Switch is on the side of the transmission. It checks to make sure the jeep is in park or neutral before providing a ground to the starter solenoid. If it can't sense a park or neutral from the shift lever it won't ground and it won't start.
TX for the response. It was the park/neutral switch. Now on to other puzzles!
