rough ride

i have a 2002 tj with the 4.5" RE short arm lift. running 35s. it rides really rough. sometimes so bad its hard to control. would a new set of shocks fix this if so any suggestions on model or brand to get? i have shocks off my old rough country lift on it now.

Rough Country shocks are notorious for being stiff riding. Added to that might be that your tires could also be overinflated. Exactly what pressure are you running in your 35" tires?

rough country shocks is ur problem. Get a set of OME shocks or a Monotube REs and never look back. I have my old RC shocks wrapped up in my closet, someday i'll rip them apart and see if i can weld something on there and experiment!!!

most people seem to run them at around 30 psi

Wandering, the big tires do that especially when there are tracks in the road (from big trucks). Also you do have an aftermarket track bars do you? And you did remove all the crappy steering brackets in the front that came with RC kit?

25-26 psi should be fine for 35" tires under a Wrangler.

Have your toe-in (front-end alignment) checked and set. If your toe-in is ok, then you might have a caster angle issue but my bet is that your toe-in is off.

You can check and set your own toe-in by following the instructions at http://www.4x4xplor.com/alignment.html
