1999 Jeep Wrangler Sport
135k miles.
Winch/one set rigid pods hooked to battery.

So I'm sure others have had this issue before, but I can't find anything posted. It's getting colder and 2 times out of about 20 starts, my jeep sounds like the battery is dead. It NEVER IS. It just does the noise like it doesn't want to start, then it starts. I want it to stop that. Haha

Battery is 2 years old. Terminals are clean. Monday I'll be seeing how good the battery is an start eliminating things from there.

Such problems are often (usually?) caused by an intermittent bad battery connection. I don't care if they look clean, battery connections can often be bad even though they look perfect. My advice is to physically remove both connectors and wire brush the posts and connectors with a wire battery brush set. Then reinstall the connectors tightly enough that you can't move them around on the battery posts even with considerable hand pressure. If they can be moved around, that a sign that the connectors are worn but there's a free/easy fix for that I'll describe if you notice that problem.

The thing is, there are a lot of not starting sounds and each one indicates a very specific source, so try to describe it if you can.

One thing that causes intermittent dead battery like symptoms are bad grounds. Be sure to clean and inspect all your ground and even consider adding an additional engine to battery ground.

If you're jeep fails to start with that dead battery symptom on a fully charged battery try running a jumper cable from the negative battery terminal to a clan spot on your block. That effectively adds an additional ground. If it starts after that then the mystery is over.
