I don't have tons of money just to buy a new pan I'm sure they Aren't cheap! But thanks for the info helped a lot! But also isn't Royal Purple like top of the line more or less why would it mess up the trans? Isn't it a better lube then OEM?
the 42RLE skid plate is nothing more than shovel to collect mud and junk. the new pan is a TCM/updated pan...supposed to address the well know 42RLE cavitation issue & allow more fluid capacity. It looks damn near the same to me though, and the magnet is much smaller. All told I think its between $15-20 from the dealership...new magnet and new pan. That too expensive for you?
I don't know jack squat about Royal Purple, but I do know they're not on the Mopar ATF+4 list, and the 42RLE REQUIRES Mopar approved ATF+4. It needs this fluid for the clutches to operate properly. Mine died at 50k miles, which isn't uncommon for this 42RLE. They can have major overheating issues, and they shift like crap, all thanks to Jeep. The best thing you can do is install a tranny cooler - forward of the radiator & condensor only, and change the fluid & filters every 30k with Mopar parts.
