Rubicon speedometer recalibration

I need some advice from those of you smarter than me!

Just had 4.88's installed and the speedometer is significantly off. Not sure exactly how much, just downloaded an app for the phone to determine on the way home today. However everything I've read about this issue left me under the impression that the Rubicons need to be recalibrated via the dealership or an aftermarket product like Superlift True Speed or Dakota Digital.

I called the dealership and they said they can correct the speedometer but at a clip of $165. The conversation left we wondering if he know what he was talking about because he said they would reprogram however he then said they would need to adjust the pinnon in the transfer case?

Does this sound accurate?

The $165 to the dealer has me thinking I should just go with either the Superlift or the Dakota unit and be done with it.

Do y'all have any thoughts, go with the dealer or go aftermarket?
For those using Superlift / Dakota is there any preference between the two based on experiences?
Would the Superlift / Dakota products correctly adjust the odometer as well?

Thanks for the help

Definitely (!!!) go with the less expensive Dakota Digital, or the more expensive True Speed from Superlift. Either will work fine and both also correct the speedometer & odometer.

The dealer's options for recalibrating the speedometer are very limited anyway, they can't recalibrate for all tire & axle ratio combinations.

Thanks Jerry ........... I saw in an earlier post you were running the Dakota. Is there a particular unit or are they generic to any vehicle?

Pretty sure the Dakota is universal for any model electronic speedometer interface like the Rubicon has... Universal Speedometer Signal Interface

A more expensive (~$70 less than the TruSpeed) but plug and play option is the SpeedoHealer.

I've got a SpeedoHealer from Todd for the sportbike and when the time comes I'll buy another from him for the LJ.

I've got a Speedohealer on my TJ, they work great, and are easy to reprogram whenever you want

I also need to order one of these.
Looks too simple to not go ahead and do it.
