Rust preventative

So today I was told to spray my under carriage with WD40 to deter moisture build up and prevent rust. Good or bad idea?

When your road ends, my adventure begins!

Not a bad idea...but wont last long. If you want to take care of the problem you should look into por-15 and eastwood internal frame coating. There are plent of posts on it.

Do not waste your time. You need something that will last like POR-15 or undercoating. You need something more permanent. Prep is the key!

I got myself some Lanox
Untitled Document
I gave it a spray about 2 months ago... and it seams to be working well & adhering to the metal.
I have done probably 3 or 4 mud runs with a good waterblast after each...

im happy

Bad idea even for a temp fix. WD is a solvent. Will break up rust and repel moisture but when it dries out it can be even worse than before. PB Blaster lubricant is cheaper and will hang on longer without evaporation. New or used gear oil are also good temp fix until you have time to do it right (POR15 or equivalent). PB lube is cheaper too.
