Scary Oil question

This doesn't quite apply to Jeep specifically. My wife (fiance at the time) got the extended oil and filter put in her car. The kind that last 10,000 miles. Well it came due to change it. Now being able to do it for her, I changed it. Enter problem. Her oil pan holds 5.5 quarts (she drives a 06 Pacifica), when I changed it only 1 quart came out!!! Luckily it didn't seize and on the surface nothing appears to be wrong but is there anything I can do to help recondition or restore the engine if there is something going bad inside? IE. change the oil again after 1,000 miles, or that "restore" oil additive??? Anyone use this stuff or suggestions? Thank you.

No additive is going to restore anything if there was any actual damage done. If the engine never overheated or gave any other indications of a problem, perhaps it will survive unscathed. Good luck with it, but just don't waste your $$$ on any of those "restore" additives as they don't magically restore bearings, rings, etc. after being damaged.

Basic automotive training for all my kids are to check the oil level every 1k miles to see how many miles you go before it need a quart. Once you know then you check it around that interval. Years ago when I worked in a dealer it was acceptable to burn 1 qt every 1k. and the MFG would not even consider addressing it as excessive.

I would do a motor flush, or maybe put some sea foam in the crank case for a few hundred miles, then do another oil change.

I was taught this as well.

The engine is burning the oil or its leaking severely. Check the rear main seal or any wet spot on the engine or near the oil pan. If its not leaking than the bearings for the pistons or other moving components are shot and its causing excessive oil consumption. Chances are if you keep adding oil to it like I did for mine for 5 years, your going to get too low, spin a bearing and you will need a new engine. Lets hope its just a leak. BTW additives are temporary, they will not fix the problem.

Consider yourself lucky if it has not lunched by now. Put in the fresh oil and keep an eye on it. My car uses a quart every 2,500 miles which is the way it always has been. I change the oil every 6,000 but I use the Mobil 1 synthetic. The point is that even if you can go longer between changes, you need to check the oil and keep in topped off.
