Seafoamed the jeep today

My jeep got a good seafoam treatment today on top of an oil change. She's a happy girl.

Did you run it in your gas tank and your oil system?

Sea foam is a fuel treatment or some have stuck it in their oil to clean out the sludge.

Glad you asked because I kept thinking sea foam was a color. I've seen the stuff for sale at Auto Zone but had no idea what it was for.

I add it to my motorcycles and all my cars, it's also a fuel stabilizer when kept in storage for winter.

I have a question about that I saw it in the store the other day and was about to buy but but said it was for 2 and 4 cylinder nothing about 6 and others? Do you use the whole bottle or just a little? How many miles did you drive with it in your car till you changed the oil?

I use it on any engine, small or large. I've used it in small engines like weed eaters and larger engines, like 5.0 v8 in my old explorer. used it on my old cherokee, and now my wrangler. It's about 9 bucks at the store. I use anywhere from 1/3 to 1/2 half bottle in the brake booster line, then let it sit for about 10 minutes, then turn the engine back on and the smoke pours out of the exhaust. I don't use directly in my oil, I use pennzoil platinum synthetic, and it has cleaners and detergents that take care of the sludge incorporated into it.

Probably said 2 cycle and 4 cycle.
Cars are 4 cycle.
Weedeaters are 2 cycle.

Yeah it does because I put it in my Jeep about a week ago and I read it and thought it said 2 cylinder & 4 cylinder but I did a double take and slowed down to read it and I realized it actually said 2 & 4 cycle

I've used it before, didn't really notice anything different after usage. Funny story though… I bought a can of it and sat on it for about a month. I'm not really the type of person who reads up on upcoming local events, okay. Well I woke up one morning with nothing to do so I thought what the hell, today I'm Seafoaming the Jeep. I was outside in front of the Jeep with the hood open (parked in the drive way) reading the instructions. Complied with the instructions, waiting the 10 min. Then started the Jeep backed out of the drive way and started to drive around the block. As soon as I drove off the Jeep started to SMOKE like crazy. You couldn't even see through it. Who knew that was the day they were running a half marathon that went through my neighborhood. You should have seen them all trying to cover their mouths and noses before the smoke hit them. LOL!!

How is this Seafoam stuff compared to Lucas Fuel treatment, which is what I use.

I hadn't ever heard of Seafoam either until joining this forum!

When I use it u put a third in the throttle body a third in the oil and a third in the gas. It helped me find an exhaust leak.

Seafoam Rules! hands down.

I foam my jeep before every oil change (crank case, vac lines and into the fuel) I get so excited when I crank it over after that loooooong 10 minutes to watch all the smoke come out of the exhaust. I've done it so much that I just get a little poof and she purrs like a kitten.

On a funnier note. I sea foamed the ladys Jeep Cherokee which has had little to no maintenance since 1994 and after the 10 minute wait, the smoke coming out of it almost smoked out our neighborhood. The local volunteer fire department (I call them slab savers) came by my house to see what was up...apparently they got a number of calls saying a vehicle had caught on fire

I usually do 1 bottle through the vacuum line, then 3/4 a bottle in the tank and 1/4 bottle in the oil. I let it sit over night after stalling it out on the vacuum line, then I start it in the morning (pissing off the neighbors) and let the motor rip to blast out all the crap.

That's what I do. If you've never seafoamed before, do it before a spark plug change. There's potential that there's enough crap in your motor to foul the plugs. I've seen it a few times before.

Otherwise, start out with small amounts. Do 1/4 bottle through the vacuum line for a few oil changes....then do a full bottle later.

Lucas fuel stabilizer is some of the best stuff I've ever used. Solved a rough idle problem for me, and I've seen it do the same in my truck.

That one, just pull it out of its place, and let it suck in the seafoam

Hopefully this image will work so you can see. If it doesn't then just google '97 tj brake booster line' and you should see it
