Servicing Transmission

In a attempt to cut down on any access heat and prevent and failures I am servicing my 5 speed manual transmission in my 2001 TJ. My only question is what size is the access nut on the side and bottom of the transmission? Can I use a bolt fitting the hole with a double nut to remove the nut out of the trans or will it strip the nut in the trans? Any ideas?

Thats exactly what I did. I bought a 10mm bolt and two matching 10mm nuts, tightened them together and have used it several times since. Much cheaper than the allen, and works just as well. Cheers!
