She smells bad

My 2000 wrangler, has 248,000 miles, on it's second engine, and everything works like a champ, but.... Every single time I go for a ride, when I get out she smells pretty bad, like it's way too hot, but the temp gauge says it's fine, it's coming from mid vehicle, not from the front, not from the tail pipe, and I can't seem to figure it out, any ideas.

Like something is burning? Maybe oil being thrown from diff or transfer case into exhaust or cat?

A bad catalytic converter can smell pretty bad, often like sulfur.

After hot and odiferous shut off engine and sniff tailpipe but keep adequate distance to avoid burn to nose or face

See if Oder is strongest there

Leaky water line

Radiator fluid can smell bad and it can come from your heater lines. Does it smell on the inside or out. This would be more apparent on the inside of the vehicle.

I got out and smelt it as I was standing next to the door, I went back to the tail pipe and I didn't smell it at all? Haven't checked the radiator fluid but I know the ratio is way off in there, and too bad I don't know what sulfer smells like

Start it and crank your heat

That would be a reasonable test to see if you have a water (heater) leak inside. You could also try a good underbody and underhood car washing. Cleaning it all over might just solve your prob.

an incorrect coolant to water ratio shouldn't produce a fowl odor

Maybe when you got out of the seat you released some trapped flatulence?

Burnt sulfur smells like burnt hair

Hair and nails get their strength from the sulfur cross connections on the amino acid cysteine so when hair burns that special Odor is burnt sulfur

I also have a check engine light, the code says I need an o2 sensor, could that be it?

Same issue here... changed out o2 sensor out to fix issue and still got the smell. Took cats off and the honey comb inside was disintegrated!
