Cool Shims For Differential

I am installing a 3.73 ring and pinion in the front Dana 30 and rear Dana 35. Now on the rear carrier the ring is already installed allegedly has 55k miles looks ok. I was just wondering if I can get the shim kit and throw it in? If so do I need a specific one for that gear ratio? Or should I just get a new rear and front master bearing kit?
