Shock the Monkey...

I've searched for this answer, so I defer to the suspension guys. I have a 03 Sport with the 30x9.5 tire option (don't know if that makes a difference) and I went to swap out some new suspension components (bushings, ball joints, etc) and new shocks. Being on a budget for now, I went with the Skyjacker Hydros that (according to Qtec) were for a stock, un-lifted TJ. Great, except the fronts are 2 inches too short.

I was able to find the correct length afterwards and am in the process of exchanging, but was wondering if I was right, or they were right (Did someone put the wrong size on before before I owned it)?

The front shocks on the Jeep now are 22.75'' fully extended, what they sent me was 20.75''… Anyone know what the correct length should be?

Thanks

Chances are you're right. You can't really make a short shock work. Although a 2" difference would still make it short.

I'm not 100% but I think you're looking for an 6-8" travel shock.

I recently measured the shocks that came stock on my 05 LJ Rubicon and they were roughly:
Fronts: 21 inches extended/13.5 inches compressed
Rears: 19 inches extended/12 inches compressed.
