Short Throw Shifter on 4 Banger

Howdy All,

Just want to share with you all my experiences with a B&M Short Throw shifter for the 2.5 liter engine and the AX-5 tranny. Although the directions states that it will fit, it will not. Jeep in question is a 99 TJ. I ordered the shifter, part number 45046, which states for a 2.5 and an AX-5 tranny. Once you get to step 8, it it obvious that it does not fit nor will it be able to be adapted to fit (spacer to tranny).

I spoke to B&M about this, and they were very helpful. Unfortunately, since the AX-5 changed with the different models (according to B&M) they have discontinued the 2.5 Short Throw Shifter.

I know many on this board swear by them, which enticed me to purchase mine. However, if you have the 2.5, I would think twice about purchasing one unless you can purchase it locally.

Just my observations.

Once I get a new shifter, any one wanna hit Big Bear this weekend?

got mine to fit just fine. there is a spacer that comes with the shifter and it will be obvious where it goes. post up some pics and maybe we can help.
