Should I be concerned?

Buying a 98 SE Auto. Went for a test drive when I was just about to go out into the street the engine just shuts off, no bad noises or anything like that just shut off, almost like when you stall a standard. Started it back up, everything was fine like nothing even happened, it was a pretty cold out that day too but it was allowed to warm up before I left. Should I be concerned?

I would be. If you can pinpoint the problem, it should definitely be used to knock the price down a little bit.

If it cant be located, it just depends on what you want to do.

I for one, wouldnt want to buy a vehicle and inherit that kind of problem. But I'm not overly mechanically savvy either.

If you are buying from a private party, sounds like a discount is in order. Or, they get it fixed and show you the receipt.

Pretty much the same thing if buying from a dealer too.

absolutely. in fact, if I was buying something that did that, I'd be concerned enough to find something else.

I did get a discount on it already for other reasons( maintenance etc.) , and I'm also geting it for a steal for what condition it is in (near perfect). But I have taken it for a test drive before and it didn't happen. The owner also swears it has never happened before but I know that doesn't mean much.

So, you already bought it? And you got a discount because it has maintenance issues, but it's in near perfect condition....? Sorry, I'm a bit confused...

Sorry ment body wise/rust, but by maintenance I mean brakes and definitely a new exhaust, and yeah unfortunately I'm posting this a little late, sealed the deal a day ago, hopefully I don't regret it and I have had this car held by the girl for months, it has been sitting there waiting for my arrival. But other then the exhaust and brakes its perfect.

Well there you have it. Have you driven it much since you've acquired it?

Well it's in another state so I had a good friend pick up the signed title and keys he's going to send it to me so I can geting the registration, insurance and plates so I can have my (hopefully) victory ride home with it. But if anything I will know where to ask for help if I do get any problems. FINGERS CROSSED. (This week end)

How did you test drive it if it's in another state and you needed a friend to pick up the keys/title? This is all sounding very disjointed. Weird electrical gremlins are no laughing matter when you own them.

I visit on the week ends that I can, sorry if this is just a huge mess I'm not good at writing. and I figured it would be a waste of money to go just to pick up the title and then come back home, then go back to actually take it home.
