skid plate question?

is the tranny skid plate also a cross member? I was looking at the under side tonight and found a missing Bolt to the skid plate. I know there are five more but if it doubles as a cross member it would be important.

one more question. if you have a 2 inch coil spring/spacer lift and replace the shocks with stock shocks will they work or do you need to buy longer shock for the difference in height?

The skid plate does act like a support for the transmission.

Shocks that are too short don't normally cause a serious problem, they just limit the amount the axle can droop on the trail which doesn't normally harm the shock. What is bad is mounting shocks that are too long since they will usually bottom out on bumps which can damage the shocks or shock mounts.
