soft top identification for 2005 unlimited

New to the whole jeep scene. Just bought a 2005 wrangler unlimited soft top on Friday. Put the top down first time yesterday. No problems putting it down but, when I put it back up the outer layer of the top cracked in several spots on the passenger side. I have been looking at adds for new top and it seems Besttop would be the one to go with. My problem is that I saw notations that certain tops will only fit on certain frames. How do I tell whether or not my top is stock or aftermarket.
On the rear window lower right corner there is a very small "emblem" shaped like a micrometer. Does that mean anything to anyone? I plan to have the dealer take care of this but, would like it taken care in 1 attempt. The people at the dealer don't seem to competent to begin with. If I can tell them exactly what they need it should go much smoother.

If you have the Unlimited TJ then I will bet that you are running the stock Mopar soft top. There are not a lot of aftermarket tops available for the unlimited that I have seen.

Well, I guess that's a good thing. I can just hear the guys at the dealer now complaining because it's an aftermarket top. This sucks...only had the Jeep a day when this happened. Hopefully they will "make good " on the deal.

mine looks exactly like that, tinted windows and all! Mine doesnt have any markings on it though as far as manufacturers name or model#. The only marking is a white Micrometer about 1" tall on the bottom right corner of the rear window.

I agree with JDsDream that you most likely have the original factory top. (technically not a MOPAR top, since MOPAR is their after-sales division, but that's getting picky).

You can go to this page and try and match your hardware to the right picture. That'll give you a better idea of what you have.

IF you have the factory hardware, and need replacement fabric, you can get the Bestop Replace-A-Top. It uses your hardware, but gives you new fabric and windows.

If you have an aftermarket frame, you need to make sure exactly what it is. If it's a Supertop, then you can still get replacement skins.

If you already had a Replace-A-Top, it would have the Bestop Yellow B on the window, like RBloodhounds Jeep does.

LOL...I'd love a hardtop for winter. Only one problem....no$$. I have determined that my top is stock . If you watch this video it is absolutely identical to my jeep (even the colors). Video: How To Take Off & Put On A Jeep Soft Top - The Fun Times Guide to Jeeping

The fact that I just bought the damn thing on Friday kinda pisses me off. Hopefully the dealer will work with me on this. I shouldnt have to by a new top 3 days after buying a "super clean" jeep from a well know, reputable, dealer in the area.

well, it's at the dealers now. They said "we'll take care of it". Guess I'll have to wait and see what happens.

Sounds like they're up to the situation, the dealer that is. I wish you the best of luck in getting this taken care of to your satisfaction.

well, I thought they might actually take care of this mess.....guess I was wrong. I originally took the jeep in on Monday of this week due to the trans leaking, death wobble, and the top tore in 3 places the first time i put up. They claim they are buying me a NEW top.....GREAT!!!! I only bought it Friday. Now to the BIG MESS. They have not fixed either of the other two issues. Instead they were supposedly replacing an axle seal. Big problem here is, the axle seals were fine to begin with. The REALLY BIG problem is the mechanic somehow F@#$ed up my ring and pinion in the process.
They seem to feel that this is no big deal at all. The parts wont be in until Monday. It will have taken them an entire week to screw up what was fine to begin with and NOT fix a single thing they were supposed to fix. Everytime I raise my voice with them on the phone all they can say is "we gave you a loaner didn't we?" That's supposed to make it all better. The loaner is a ford fusion that is ready to explode at any time. What the hell should I do now? I Really cant trust the incompetent mechanics at all. I am a mechanic by trade but, I refuse to repair it myself when I just bought lt less than a week ago.
