Soft top problem

I was looking at the top on my 2000 TJ and noticed that across the top of the door on the drivers side you can see daylight between the door and the seal. It's a full door. The door frame does not appear to be bent and the seal is in good condition. You can just about stick your fingers through where the door closes.

We adjusted the striker plate but it didn't change anything. The top is about at the point where it should be replaced. Is there any other adjustment I can make to seal the door better or is a new top the answer? We're thinking about getting one from Bestop.

This is the first Jeep I've owned so I don't know about normal noise levels but this one seems extreme. The door rattles also. Hope all of this makes some sense.

That doesn't sound so much like the top to me. Sounds like there's a problem with your door surrounds. Are they installed correctly? Nice at tight? Check the hand bolts across the top of the roll cage. They may be loose allowing the whole surround to move, and rattle which would explain the noise levels.

Also, if you have a buddy with a TJ and full doors, ask him if you could swap doors for a minute to see if his fits the same, then you know it's not the door.

post a pic, it'll help a lot.
sounds like you must not have the factory door surrounds.
if your door frame was bent that much i couldn't imagine your windows being able to roll up/down.

The door surrounds are factory and do not appear to be damaged or aout of alignment. So I looked a little closer and it appears the drivers side roll bar post needs to come towards the drivers door a little. That would push the door surrounds in tighter. I looked under the pad on the top bar and it is two pieces so I guess it can be adjusted a small amount.

Armed with all of that I loosened the torx bolt but it doesn't move. Should I tap it with a rubber mallet? I'm lost here so any suggestions will be appreciated.
