Soft top rear window/tailgate question

I just put the soft top on today (For the first time for me) and the bottom of the soft top window doesnt secure in anyway to the tailgate ... in fact it kinda droops in and if it rains I will have more water inside than I feel is necessary ... could I be missing a part or are all soft tops like this ... I don't know anyone else that has a soft top to compare against. Thanks.

do you have the cross bar that makes the seal between the window and the tail gate?

Definatly missing a cross bar that goes across the bottom of the window. it locks into the black metal channels on each side of the tailgate. It has a seal on it that seals the window to the tailgate when the gate is shut.

Gonna guess. But I'm leaning towards... no.

Found a picture of it. The piece in his hand is the piece you need.

nope dont have the crossbar... I was just searching on autopartswarehouse.com and it showed that and now I get to spend another $53.00 for a part that I should have received when I purchased the jeep back in Sept 09!

Anyone know of anyplace I could possibly find this cheaper? Thanks.

Do you have the brackets that hold the bar as well?

Read this installation guide (it's for Supertops, and you've got an OE Jeep top, but it's basically the same thing). Page 10 talks about tailgate bars and tailgate bar retainer clips.

You have the proper brackets on the tub. The new cross bar slides onto the soft top but the soft top needs the nylon looking rod shoved inside the sleeve(pic 1) so the bar has something to hold onto. I can't tell for definite, but it doesn't look like you have the nylon rod shoved into the soft top. So you need it, too.

Well, I will see what I get from Daveys and then see what I need to do ... it is supposed to rain here so I am going to have to rig something up to keep as much water out as possible.

Davey ships really quick. I've ordered lots of stuff from him and have always been happy. A little rain won't hurt your jeep. Just pull the plugs so it doesn't get your socks wet!
