Some help for a newb! (few questions)

Hey everyone! i recently registered because I recently bought a 05 Jeep LJ six speed. Cant believe how much I love it! Well enough about that lets get started on my questions.

First off I was wondering if anyone could help me out with what exactly I have on my jeep. I know the lift is a rough country but i dont know the height? I am guessing a 4" but wondering if it had any other type of lift on it. Sorry I am new to this and dont have much experience with Jeeps. The tires are 33" and the wheels are 12.5 x 8 I believe? My friend checked out the axel and I am running a Dana 44 but am unsure about the gears. What should I look for? Does it really matter with the setup i have?

My next questions is about scratch removal. I started putting 6" bushwacker fender flairs on today and once i took off the rear fender i noticed a line of scratches where the top of the fender meet the cars paint. Was wondering if anyone had any good tips for removing scratches?

The next question I have is about my hardtop. I have been trying to get the back windshield wiper to work but can't figure out how. I am guessing that it should turn on with the main wiper switch? I have read about different hard tops not working with other years of jeeps. This shouldn't be the case though since I have an LJ. Or am I wrong? Could I be missing some wiring that needs to be hooked up? If so what should I be looking for? I imagine that it will also make the defroster work?

well lets see if this picture works

Sorry (cell phone pics) I know the pictures aren't the best for the questions that I asked but I can get more if needed. They were just the ones I had off hand.

hope you enjoy and any help will be much appreciated!

Sweet looking Jeep and welcome to WF

Well since you have 33" tires and the space in between your fender and your tire id say you have 4" lift. As for your hard top rear wiper and defroster, there should be switches for it in the middle part of the dash under the radio unit where you’re able to put custom switches. If not, they probably have not installed the wire kit that you can buy off of under the hard top accessories for the rear window wiper and defroster kit. If it does have the switches in the dash then make sure it is plugged in, not sure which side it’s on mine is on the driver side rear corner.

oops missed your gear question, you have 3.73 or 4.10 gears since you have the Dana 44 rear end unless they were re geared when the lift and tires were put on but you would need paper work for that from the shop if they were installed. There is a plack on the rear differential cover which should tell you what gears you have.

Nice unlimited, and welcome to the forum. Yes, you should def be running a 4" lift the way your pics look.
2006 TJ Unlimited. 4" Teraflex Suspension, Pro Comp rear recovery bumper, KC 130w lights, 33" x 12.5" TSL's on 15" x 10" RC rims, and a 1000w kenwood amp and head unit, kicker speakers in pods and dash and 2 10" infinity subs in the rear.

You should have a defroster switch and a wiper switch below the radio. My 04 LJ was originally a soft top only model, so when I added the hardtop I had to get the wiring added as well.

If you have the switches, the plug in is in the drivers rear corner. Make sure it's plugged in tightly and locked.

Scratches? Wash/compound/wax. If they're still there, only route I know of is paint. Tape if off and spray it. Once the flares are back on, you probably will never notice it again. However, the scratches are probably from debris getting between the flare and the body, which means it's going to happen again. Part of having a Jeep!

Dang I dont have the switches so I am guessing that ill need to get the wireing kit. Not that important but if I have the back wiper and defroster I would like to utilize it!

I plan on checking tomorrow what the gears are. Thanks for the information on that.

I tested a small area today with some compound. It worked really well on some scratches that looked like they were from branches. I dont think it will work on the line left from my fender flairs. Bummer.. does anyone know a good place to get matching black touchup paint? how noticeable will the marks be if I take my time and do good work with the touchup paint?

At this point I am beginning to wonder if I should go with a wider flair that is the same shape as the stock ones. It would hide the scratches and marks made by the original flairs. Just sucks because id have these bushwackers here that I wouldnt use.
