Sound Bar Dome Light Wiring Help

Just purchased a sound bar from a member on here. Where should I tie the power into? I was thinking right to the factory interior light under the dash on the drivers side, but then it would only have power when the door is open. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am not very electrical savy lol.

If there is not a wire connector at the top of the roll bar on the drivers side to tie into then go to the red (possibly light gray) connector at the bottom of the big stack of connectors in the kick panel. From that connector the pink/white is for power & the yellow is ground. If you tap in there the dome light should then work when you open the doors & off the headlight switch. If you do tap into the courtesy light it should work the same.

Ok, so if I understand you correctly. Drivers side, under the dash? Unfortunately Is was not pre wired from the factory. I did however get all the factory wiring.

Yes, there is a "stack" of 8-10 connectors of various colors. If your jeep did not come with a hardtop or 4 speakers then the bottom connector (usually red) will probably not have the female side of the connector. If you have that section you can plug in there. If not you could go to the back side & splice those 2 wire in there. If ths female side is there than that harness will go back along under the door & probably up the roll bar. Then you can tap in up there.

Is this what your talking about? Since I dont have the plug, and I couldnt order one from the dealer, just splice into them on the back side?

Is the one on the right in the photo the bottom one? It doesn't make sense to get that connector from the dealer for only 2 wires. If you can get to the back you should be able to find the pink/white & the yellow wires & splice into them. If it is easier go the the courtesy light & splice into those 2 wires there.

Quick Question, I spliced into the pink/white power wire. Then I just grouned the other to the chassis to make sure it worked. The light came on, but wouldnt turn off. When I splice into the yellow it will allow me to turn the dome light on and off at the switch right? I just didnt wanna cut into the wires if I didnt have to.

Yes, you need to connect to the yellow wire for the ground because that is what controls the light on & off. The pink/white has constant power & the door switches & the headlight switch open & close the ground (yellow wire) to work the courtesy & dome lights.

You're welcome. Not bugging me, I'm sitting here warm & dry, you are out there getting it working, probably wet & cold. I have the easy part.

Rubi 4 my mrs,

I have a question. I just finally got around to finishing connecting the wires and it works great. The only issue now is, when the door is open or "off" the light stays on. The door switch controlls the on and off funtion, along with the light dimmer switch, but they wont turn off when the door is open or "off". I was going to install a discrete toggle switch by the drivers door, unless you had any other ideas. Thanks again for the input.

Yes, if you want to be able to control it you can put a switch in. You can also remove the #4 fuse in the block behind the glove box, that is what completes the circuit to ground. That is for when the doors are off so that the lights & the chime for the door open with key in stays off. Because of that function you can remove the fuse & put the switch across those terminals. It's a convenient place to add a switch even if you run the wires over closer to the driver's side.
