I've been reading other threads on jeeps running 10-11 in the winter, with drastic increases in the summer months.

I hope this is my case.

I drive a jeep and I don't think I ever pushed over 15mpg, even brand new (mostly city driving).

Not expecting miracles or I'd go after a Prius, but I know I should be doing a little better.

Thank u for the replies : )

18-20 may not be as ridiculous as I (we) thought. Like I said before, I didn't keep tire pressure up when it got cold (30's down to 0 and below for a few weeks), then it got warm for the last tank of gas upper 30's up to low 40's. When it was cold (more idling & ??? Tire pressure) I averaged 14.90 MPG. My last tank was 18.96 MPG!!!! Also, my last tank was about 3/4 +/ - hwy. This before I changed the spark plugs. Maybe I can get close to 20 with new plugs and an electric fan.... Then back to standard mileage when my tires get bigger. I may go as far as to track hwy/city miles.... Probably not...

Oh, and I run AMSOIL, they claim their motor oil increases fuel efficiency, maybe there's some truth to that. Though easy acceleration, correct tire pressure, and HWY speeds around 65-70 probably do more.

I read alot about that oil, I'm using mobile 1 and I'm trying to use the best in my jeep, problem with the Internet is it's 50/50 when it comes to opinions on brands they like best. I chose the autolite double platinums for plugs many people swear by them but you get others that say "don't use them they are garbage" use champions only, and then you here "champion plugs are for lawnmowers" WTF and same thing with tire pressure I'm currently at 28/20 anything more than that I'm bouncing all over the place.
You never get a definitive answer on anything. for each his own I guess.

Thanks for the replys..

Hahahaha, I feel your pain. A friend of mine (gear head into drag racing, wheeling, mechanic father in-law etc.. and overall redneck) swears by AMSOIL, I trust his opinion. Turns out that after getting your AMSOIL member discount ($20 yearly membership) it's cheaper than Mobile one, which I used to always use. Recommended oil change intervals are anywhere from 3K/3 month for OE type stuff to 24K/ 12 months for the high end stuff. I went with "XL" which change interval is 6K/ 6 Miles, i'll just change filters 3K/3 months. Yearly oil changes just don't feel right, though i'm sure it'd be fine. I got my NGK V-Powet plugs for about $16, found the same plugs on amazon for $34.

Who really knows what's best though? Hahah
