have a 97 tj 4cyl since Ihave had it when you start it an let it idle it acts like its loadin up rev it couple times all is good then last week started it same old thing but bout half mile down the road it started spitten an sputterin worse than ever lasted about five miles came out of it ran fine now it does it every time mite go a mile then quits the other day went eleven before it quit put gas treatment in changed tps an the coil still does it oh yea the tach jumps on almost every sputter thinkin a sensor but with tach doin what it does not sure now
Have you checked your tps? It's a cheap part that could be the culprit, if spitting and sputtering is what I am thinking of. Also o2 sensors. It sounds like a electrical fuel to air sensor problem, since you say it's off and on. Try plugging up a buddies and seen of it makes the difference. Start cheap and work your way up is my motto.
Sorry missed where you said you changed the tps. Also if you leave your jeep out in the rain a lot. Your clockspring In the steering wheel shares the ground as the tps. Easy way to bypass it is to unplug your horn relay and see if it was your tps ground. But also check your o2 sensors
no i dont leave it out in rain without top on so if i unhook horn relay an it doesnt do it then its the tps ground ?
