Sputtering after gas fill up.

Hey all,

Last night I filled up with gas after being close to empty. About 3 miles down the road from the station, my TJ began sputtering and losing power as I tried to accelerate. It is a manual transmission, I tried several gears, but i just kept losing ground. I pulled over and shut it off, but it did the same thing afterwards. It seemed to kind of pull out of its funk after a few miles and hasn't happened again today, but I wanted to see if anyone had any words of wisdom. Thanks!

Brad

How much did it take to fill it up.

I guess I didn't technically fill up. I only put in about $15 worth and that was from almost empty. However, I just took it around town and the sputtering wasn't there. I'm wondering if it was just a fluke caused by the type/brand of gas or how it mixed with what was already in there.

The gas had some water in it. Apparently it wasn't too much. To get ALL of it out of there, add a container of something like STP gas treatment. It'll burn all the water out. I carry a container of the stuff with me, in case I get bad gas. It's saved me a couple of times.
