squeaky squeaky

If I'm standing next to my jeep and I put my foot on the running board and press down, I hear a squeak. What is that? I know that's sort of a random and unspecific question, but does anybody have any thoughts?

shocks, maybe?

I don't know what it's called but that large black bar that runs up along the front of the grill with the rubber bushings always squicks on mine. I spray it down with armor all or tire shine and it stops. I don't remember how to spell sqweeks. too many heinikens! I don,t remember how to spell hynycan! too many skweeks.

My Jeep would squeak going down the road and even just jiggling it in the driveway! Thought I had traced it to the exhaust hangers, so gave them all a squirt of PB Blaster. Nope... still there. Turns out it was the linkage that connects under the driver's side to the body next to the trans. Lubed that and it's adios! Just something to think about when tracking odd noises...

ever since I put the shackles on the bumper and let the winch hook hang to the license plate, I dont even notice the squeak anymore. the banging sound is much more pleasant to hear.

hes talking about the transfercase linkage. Crawl under the jeep at the drivers door. Connected to the body, nest to the transmission is a linkage setup.

Yep... sorry I wasn't more specific. PB Blaster (or even WD40) is good stuff, but a few drives in the rain and it may come back. Just crawl under your Jeep, have someone mimic the movement that causes it and listen closely. Squirt some one place at a time till you conquer the noise! A little heavier grease applied once found and it'll last much longer. BTW, PB in't the best smelling stuff in the world, so try not to let it drip back down on you!

Just to clarify..This happens when the Jeep is stop and I shake it. It does sound like springs or something..is that possible or still check the linkage?

Yes. I don't hear it with the top off. I am sure its nothing major but since it was mentioned here I thought it might be the same thing. After all its a jeep not a mercedes... For example when I am stop and getting out I can hear it. Maybe its the new 4"Suspension or something needs to be greesed

It might be a funny test if you are bored. Just grab the jeep and shake it and see if you hear anything. I think mine it wasn't there before.
