Starter Motor Brand Suggestions??

My starter decided to go out today, so I have been trying to find something to replace it. The problem I have ran into is every store near me which includes NAPA, O'reillys, Autozone, and Advanced Autoparts, only sell remanufactured.

I would prefer to buy new but the only new starters I have found are on Rockauto.com, and they are 2 brands I have never heard of: PowerSelect/WPS($96) and Pure Energy($96).

As for the remanufactured I have found MOPAR($200), Denso($182), Bosch($250), NAPA, and the other cheap brands from the other stores.

From the selection, would anyone recommend any of these over the others? or Do you have another suggestion I am not aware of?

Not saying it doesn't, but according to their fitment checker online it says that part does not fit my tj (2006 2.4l)

NAPA would be your best bet if you can't afford to get one from the MOPAR dealership.Never buy anything such as this from the chain parts stores.Another avenue is to find a local rebuilder.I normally do that.AutoZone and such sells cheap Chinese junk.
Trust me I try to stay away from Autozone and the other crap stores as much as I can. I planned on getting the parts from napa, but all the searches I did only showed up with remanufactured parts. And I would prefer to stick with MOPAR, but I did a search for this part and can't find it either.

I haven't been able to talk to a dealership/NAPA around me as they have been closed since my starter went out. Just figured while I wait til I can talk to someone, I would get some jeepers opinions.

My experience has been excellent with autozone starter

About 4 years ago the oem starter on my wife's 04 Rubi failed. The key switch stuck in start position and starter kept running after engine started and starter burnt up.

She called me from a store lot so I left work to help her.

Arrived and could smell the burnt starter. Fortunately she has a five speed and the parking lot had a slight grade.

So I bump started it and had her drive home without shutting off engine.

I picked up a new key switch and starter with lifetime warranty from autozone

Why autozone
1 available today
2 price
3 lifetime no bs warranty don't need receipt or box just bring in starter and give your phone number and walk out with a new/remanafactured one and again available today almost any decent size town

It has had zero issues and still works fine today

Some say get new oem but I say why. If fails it will not leave me stranded as I can bump start anywhere. Plus removal and replacement is a five minute job

So no I don't trust the avoid autozone advise as it is dogmatic poorly thought out advice

Sure for water pump or fuel pump go OEM as changeout is a major endeavor and failure can leave you stranded but not the same with a starter

Always start with any project with your most valuable tool your mind

That was my bad, I wish that was for my jeep though -_-

My last resort was to get one through autozone. Digger has yours lasted since you bought it? Every post I could find about the duralast branded starters said they were awful.

The people at napa told me that they have no densos anywhere so the only 2 brands I could get were the bosch($400) or the napa branded($130) and it would be weeks before they could get it in -_-

I doubt the dealer has them, but before I put the autozone crap in I am going to see if the dealer still sells them. Not to sure whats up with the lack of parts for the tj...

Replaced oem with duralast 4 years ago and has had no problems since

As I posted earlier the factory original only failed because of continuous running with key stuck in start position

And although it has had no issues since if that ever happens again the replacement starter will be free

Like all the others the duralast are rebuilt Chrysler starters

And any rebuild can be a possible problem but with the autozone I bought no issues in four years of use

Plus the price availability and no bs free replacement are all advantages to the autozone unit

My starter is also an Autozone/Orielly brand. So far I am almost a year into it and it hasnt given me any issues.
