Steering dampener fail?

Can a steering dampener fail internally? In other words can it fail with out leaking to the outside through the seals? Just put a new NAPA dampener on about 3 weeks ago and now it feels like it's not even there. Thanks. Chris

Unbolt the driver's side & pushp/pull the strut in & out & see if it still firmly resists equally in both directions. You're probably just used to it by now.

Mine is a Rancho RS5000 Chris but there isn't enough difference in any of the mainstream brands for this particular application to worry about.

Thanks Jerry. Just figured with your knowledge you'd pick a good one.
