I have an aftermarket stereo in the jeep - recently been having issues with speakers cutting out....pulled the harness to solder all of the connections, and found the problem isn't coming from the wiring....it's coming from the harness....on the "jeep side" (i.e. what the aftermarket harness plugs into)...it's cracked on the corner and seems to have some loose connections.
How hard is that to replace? Any help or options are appreciated.
I had the same problem on a previous vehicle. I used hot glue to hold the wires in place. A couple of them were hard to get to (too small an opening on the back end) and i used super glue on those. It worked for me, but I didn't have the car through a summer after that, so ymmv
If the harness you have is beyond repair with solder, I'd just buy a new harness, cut your existing harness off, and color match the wires. You might want to check the wires at the speakers and see if they're in decent shape before you spend any money though.
