Sticking Throttle (High)

About two months ago, I had a problem with the throttle sticking high. I could tap on the gas and it might go back down or it would stick higher around 2200 rpm's. Finally it felt like gears were slipping (the sputtering feeling). Engine light came on and I took it by Advance Auto to get the free diagnostics test ran. They told me that it was the TPS. So I replaced it. About a week later, my throttle starting sticking again. Know engine light came on again, along with the sputtering when I give it gas.

Any idea's? This is a 2000 TJ. 4.0 Liter

Check your throttle cable where it goes to the butterfly valve. I have a hand throttle cable running parallel to that and when I'd be giving it gas (2.5L gas pedal on the floor while trying to go up hill on a highway), it would do the same thing. The cable's sheath was coming 'out' of the mount I had made and causing the throttle to stick open. If you have a hand throttle check that, but check your throttle line and make sure it is all in place.

After checking the cable, oil the spring real well on the throttle body to help close the butterfly if it sticks....mine just had the problem of sticking open
